How Does LED Light Therapy Work?

At Timeless Smiles, we are constantly upgrading our dental clinic to include the most advanced and innovative concepts. Hence, we have since mastered light therapy treatment for skin conditions as LEDs have shown promising results for wound healing and human tissue growth. Our LED light therapy involved penetrating the skin with different wavelengths of light – including blue and red, in different depths. Hence, by probing the skin with these red and blue lights, biological processes will be triggered, which will help to restore and rejuvenate the skin. LED light therapy is appropriate for the following skin conditions:

  • Acne
  • Aging and wrinkles
  • Dermatitis
  • Eczema
  • Psoriasis
  • Scarring

Red Light Therapy

Red light therapy is often utilised to treat the outer layer of skin (epidermis). The epidermis will absorb the light applied to your skin and stimulate the production of collagen.Collagen is the protein in our skin that plays an important role in skin healing. The more collagen you have, the smoother and fuller your skin will look. Hence, red light therapy is ideal for treating signs of aging, wrinkles, and inflammation. As a person ages, they tend to lose collagen, and therefore, red light therapy will form an overall healthier shine.

Blue Light Therapy

Blue light therapy targets the sebaceous or oil glands, which are located beneath hair follicles. Often, these glands can become overactive and lead to oily skin or acne – an issue that many people struggle with. Hence, at Timeless Smiles, we utilise blue LED light therapy to calm these glands and make them less intense. This will result in fewer acne breakouts and kill the build-up of bacteria underneath your skin.Blue and red light therapy can be used together to:

  • Treat acne
  • Reduce scarring
  • Produce an anti-inflammatory response

While LED light therapy is a completely safe procedure, it is recommended that you visit a professional to gain the best results. At Timeless Smiles, we will restore the natural look of your skin and help you take back your confidence. For more information, contact our team today.

How Can We Help You?

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What does the procedure entail and is it painful?

The process takes about 15-30 minutes following a facial analysis and discussion on your desired outcomes.
Anti-Wrinkle medicine is injected with a very tiny needle. It is so quick and safe that you can immediately return to your daily activities (and no one will know you have had it done!)

Most patients say it feels just like quick little pinches although everyone is different. Our patients usually say, “Is that all?”

After the procedure, mild swelling, bruising, redness, or tenderness may appear but rest assured it is temporary.

Q: What results may be expected? How many treatments are needed to see results? How long do the results last?

Many clients report seeing visible skin refinement and an even, radiant skin tone after just one treatment.

The smooth results and hydration may last 5 to 7 days or even longer.

We don’t believe in quick fixes, so continued hydration treatments every 2 weeks for about 6 treatments is recommended for improving the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, brown spots, oily and congested skin.

Regular monthly ‘maintenance’ treatments will help maintain skin health and continue to produce some really terrific long-term benefits.

Q: What are the key benefits of having my treatments at Timeless Smiles?

We will not compromise on our standards and we use high quality products with a proven record of accomplishment.

Consultation and treatments are personally undertaken by Dr Patel who has been trained by the Australasian Academy of Dento-Facial Aesthetics (AADFA) for skin rejuvenation including dermal fillers, Anti-Wrinkle medicine, micro-needling and skin resurface treatments.

As a dentist, Dr Patel has spent most of his professional life working around your face. He has a detailed knowledge of your head anatomy, from your chin to your forehead, as well as all the soft tissues around your mouth. Dr Patel is a keen advocate of healthy skin, so it makes perfect sense for him to combine some facets of the cosmetic industry within his dental practice.

Q: Who is a candidate for this treatment?

Everyone! Even the most sensitive skin easily tolerates the HydraFacial® treatment.

One of the HydraFacial® ‘s biggest draw cards is that the treatment is suitable for virtually any age and skin type — with a few exceptions.

In consultation with you, we may recommend a specific treatment serum and/or customise the treatment for your unique skin condition and needs.

Q: Is a HydraFacial® treatment suitable for pregnant women?

Unfortunately, because of the active nature of the ingredients used in this treatment, the HydraFacial® is not suitable for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

It’s also not suitable for:

  • Diabetics
  • People with allergies to shellfish
  • People with allergies to honey
  • People with lactic acid sensitivities
  •  Patients currently undertaking cancer treatment
  • People on certain medications (blood thinners and accutane in particular)
  • People with active or recent cold sores
  • People who have had a facial injectable treatment in the previous 4 weeks.
Q: What is my HydraFacial® care regime post-treatment?

We recommend not sweating for the rest of the day after a HydraFacial® (so no exercise, sauna, swimming pools or spa baths).

We also recommend no sun exposure or exfoliation for three days after a HydraFacial®. And of course, always, always, apply a good sunscreen every morning as normal.
